Incepatori in LINUX

stiu engleza perfect ... nu e asta problema.... dar nu am stiut ce sa scriu... ca am scris cum zicea acolo da nu aparea nimic adica nu facea nimic

atunci ai omis sa scrii sudo..asa-i? sudo e contul de superutilizator..sau am uitat cum este explicat el..administrator..si in unele situatii nu poti face modificari de sistem fara el..

eu am intrat in linux de vreo 3 luni...l-am avut o luna si am formatat HDD-ul din greseala...nu mi-am mai pus pana acu cateva zile cand am aflat ca a aparut vers finala la ubuntu 8.04...e superb...se misca instantaneu (am vers pe 64 biti), am bagat compiz si am toate efectele care le vede-ti pe youtube...si multe altele...nu va pot enumera acum tot! singurul lucru care ma mai tine legat de vista e tv-tuneru'... oricum o sa vad ce pot face sa imi formatez tot HDD-ul pt linux, cand o sa mai fac rost de cateva drivere si cateva programe care ma leaga de windows...

Now note the line in which NOkia Mobile Phones is written...it has two number one is 0421 & other is 0445...we'll take these numbers as 0x421 & 0x445

0421 is the Vendor ID & 0445 is the Product ID

Now enter this comand.

sudo /sbin/modprobe usbserial vendor=0x(vid) product=0x(pid)

eg, in my case::: sudo /sbin/modprobe usbserial vendor=0à—421 product=0à—445

NOw.. notice the output says that there is a modem at /dev/ttyACM0 & max speed is 460800

now enter this command

sudo gedit /etc/wvdial.conf

A file will open in text editor...now delete everything in that file & paste the following there

[Dialer Defaults]
Modem = Your Modem Name(eg, /dev/ttyACM0 in my case)
Baud = ur max speed(460800 in my case)
Init1 = ATZ
Init2 = ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0
ISDN = 0
Modem Type = Analog Modem
Phone = *99#
Username = username
Password = password
Stupid Mode = 1

save the file & you are done


NOw whenevr u need to connect...open terminal & type wvdial,,wait till some sort of IP adress is displayed like

Now you are connected....hit cntrl+c to dissconnect...



U can also create a laucher on desktop(application in terminal) & keep the command as wvdial..now double click it & u r connected

sunetul mi-a mai facut probleme pe linux dar vad ca acum merge..

ce programe de dc folositi? eu sunt multumita cumva cu linuxdcpp dar daca stiti altul mai bun..mai rapid..mai practic..rog sa spuneti cum se cheama..

tot linuxdcpp folosesc si eu...si am mai gasit unul...am uitat cum se numea, dar nu functiona. Poate sunt alti utilizatori care folosesc altceva...

dar pe ubuntu 8.04 face figuri wine ... cum pot instala si eu alta versiune ? aaa si inca ceva... am facut wallpapere diferite pe fiecare fata a cubului si.. nu mai merge clik dreapta si nu apar iconitele de pe desktop... acolo de unde am luat eu (nu mai tin minte forumul) trebuia sa dezactivez desktopul si.... cica imi trebuie o aplicatie stie careva despre care e vorba?

depinde ce figuri iti face wine..de instalare? sau programele instalate cu wine nu funcxtioneaza?

mie mi se pare ca wine pe 8.04 functioneaza perfect..cel putin programele pe care le folosesc eu..plus ca are niste setari pentru placa de sunet..drivere..ecran virtual pt aplicatii..

pe celelalte versiuni mergeau naspa de tot programele.. unii ziceau insa si mai demult ca wine functioneaza bine, dar eu nu prea ma impac cu el..oricum in unele situatii e un rau necesar..

de obicei prefer sa utilizez aplicatii pt linux..a fost mai greu la inceput..dar sunt usor de gasit..cu synaptic..sau de curand chiar in terminal cu

dureaza un p[c si parca sunt mai putine programe ca in synaptic..dar e utila si metoda asta..

sunt multe programe pt linux in genere..exact cum sunt si pentru windows..la incept e intr-adevar mai greu ca dupa ce ai folosit windows si esti familiarizat cu multe programe si pe linux au alte nume si se instaleaza diferit..bine-nteles ca pare a fi greu..

dar in timp devine practic totul..parca linuxul e mult mai organizat totusi ca windowsul..nu e de mirare ca il folosesc in special administratorii de retele..

To install cursor,gtk and icon theme first download the package from the link given below :

Now to install the theme package we have created in the above step , go to (System -> Preferences -> Appearance) and click Install and point to our newly downloaded Mytheme.tar.gz archive.



This should start installing the theme package (Cursors/Icons/Theme) once installation is completed . Chose Customize in theme and click on Customize .



You will find a window like this:

In this window in Icons chose LeopardX , in Controls Mac4Lin_GTK_Aqua_v0.3 , in Window Border Mac4Lin_GTK_Aqua_v0.3 and in Pointers White Cursor .


If you have followed the steps properly the theme and icons should have been installed , and you should be able to see the new theme applied to your default desktop .




Enabling Compiz Graphic Effects and installing Mac4Lin Theme

Ubuntu 8.04 comes with Compiz Fusion pre-installed and on supported hardware offers a wide array of Visual Effect . Now depending on graphic hardware of computer one could chose from three level of Visual Effect (From System -> Preferences -> Appearance )

None : - This mode causes Ubuntu to use Metacity instead of Compiz Fusion , with no visual effect

Basic : - Has only simple visual effects like shadows , fading windows-menus etc

Advanced : - Recommended for PC with descent graphic hardware , enables effects like wobbly windows, transparency , animated workspace switching etc

However , compiz-fusion is capable of much more and you can enable more desktop effects /customize compiz by typing the following command in the terminal window : -

sudo apt-get install compizconfig-settings-manager

After completing above step , you can customize compiz by going to System > Preferences > Advanced Desktop Effects Settings .
After installation is over , open Terminal from (Applications -> Accessories -> Terminal ) and issue the following command to install emerald which is necessary for using themes in compiz .

sudo apt-get install emerald

After installation is over download MacOS X Emerald theme from this link : http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Mac4Lin+Leopard+Emerald+Theme?content=68409

Now open (System -> Preferences -> Emerald Theme Manager )

After Emerald theme manager opens click on import and point to the downloaded theme package from withing the Theme Manager , you will find Mac4Lin Theme listed select the theme , click on refresh and quit the application .




Mac like Dock with Avant Window Navigator

IMPORTANT : - To use AWN Compiz-Fusion should be up and running as mentioned in the step above

Avant Windows Navigator is cool little tool that allows you to have a cute looking dock at the bottom of the screen . Even though AWN is still very buggy, still because it is so feature rich and cool looking you could install it .

To install AWN you need to add extra repositories, now adding any additional repository carries certain amount of risk of screwing up your system so follow these step at your own risk :

To add repository :

echo "deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/awn-testing/ubuntu hardy main" | sudo tee -a /etc/apt/sources.list


and

echo "deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/awn-testing/ubuntu hardy main" | sudo tee -a /etc/apt/sources.list


After issuing above command type the following command to update your repositories :

sudo apt-get update

anf finally to install AWN issue the following command in the terminal window :

sudo apt-get install awn-manager-trunk awn-extras-applets-trunk

Now after completing above mentioned steps AWN should be properly installed , To Launch AWN go to (Applications -> Accessories -> Avant Window Navigator )

Now you could customize AWN by choosing to add more applets , configuring 3D effects for AWN etc by going to AWN Manager ( System -> Preferences -> Awn Manager )

Though the theme which AWN comes with preinstalled is also good , you might like to try this it's cool and very Mac like

you could install this theme through AWN Manager go to (System->Preferences->AWN manager) and go to themes there and click on "Add" and point it to the downloaded theme.



You will see a confirmation dialog box that theme has been added properly. Close AWN Manager and start it again and chose the theme just installed and press apply button to make this theme default theme of AWN.

- Counter Strike merge PERFECT pe Ubuntu 8.04 - cel putin la mine. Ca sa il faci sa se vada fullscreen, rulezi aplicatia winecfg (din terminal), dai la tab-ul "Grafica" (la mine wine e in romana) si debifezi "Emuleaza un ecran virtual" (in engleza - Emulate a virtual screen - cel mai probabil).

- daca vreti sa va infrumusetati Ubuntu-ul, dati o privire pe Gnome Look sau chiar Ubuntu Art, de unde puteti descarca teme pentru Gnome (desktop manager-ul din Ubuntu).

- rozakia, intreaba-i pe cei de la Orange daca modem-ul pe care ti-l dau e un "WINMODEM". Daca e, sunt slabe sanse ca acesta sa mearga din Linux. Daca nu e, ai putea sa incerci . "programele multe sunt usor de instalat" - cred ca esti prima "incepatoare" care zice ca programele sunt usor de instalat in Linux

- ionutz01, contacteaza-ma pe PM si zi-mi ce tv-tuner ai... sunt 75% sanse ca acesta sa mearga pe Linux. Exact asta ma tinea si pe mine in Windows, dar am reusit sa fac tv-tuner-ul sa mearga, si asa am scapat total de Windows. Problema la TV-tunere e ca se incarca implicit in tabela de frecvente NTSC, pe cand tunerele vandute in Romania folosesc PAL. Tot ce ar trebui sa faci e sa schimbi modul de lucru al TV-Tuner-ului.

- exista o metoda mai usoara de a te conecta la Internet prin Orange Wap: gnomeppp + cateva setari. Momentan nu am wap-ul activat, dar cand il voi activa promit sa vin cu un tutorial. Pe telefoanele Sony Ericsson, conectarea prin Orange Wap ar trebui sa mearga instant, deoarece acestea au deja setarile pentru proxy in profilurile web (Nokia nu le foloseste).

- ceva mai bun decat LinuxDC++ nu cred ca gasiti... Mai e Valknut, care s-ar putea sa le mai placa unora. Mare grija ca nu va puteti conecta cu nicio aplicatie de Linux de DC++ pe utilizatorii care folosesc oDC. Exista o versiune patch-uita de LinuxDC++ care face asta, dar e invechita...

- daca vreti o tema frumoasa de Linux va recomand Slickness Black

pai..ce e asa greu de instalat programe cand poti sa le iei direct de pe internet..

la windows fiecare programel trebuie sa-l instalezi separat, cu exceptia celor preinstalate de sistem..deci este o diferenta..la windows le cauti pe internet in disperare..

e un pic mai economic pe linux..dar bine-nteles ca mai dureaza ceva timp pana capeti dexteritate..si te obisnuiesti cu cele cateva programe de instalat programe..

si intr-adevar..daca alegi sa instalezi programele care sunt arhive .tar sau asemanatoare..si cand crezi ca e aproape terminata instalarea si iti da eroare..e posibil sa nu mai fie asa usor linuxul..

de obicei, e bine de evitat pe cat posibil lucrurile astea..doar daca vr sa stii intr-adevar sa instalezi poti sa alegi metoda asta.. cel mai simplu e cu programele astea cu interfata frumoasa.. nu sunt la informatica, asa ca imi permit sa dau astfel de sfaturi..

asa ca eu cr ca am dreptate cand spun ca e usor de instalat programe pe linux totusi.. adica poate fi si simplu..depinde pe care varianta o preferi..la asta m-am referit..
