...iata ce face Sony:
XBR5 series features: Full HD 1080p, Motionflow™ 120Hz, BRAVIA Engine™ PRO, 12-bit SXRD chip, x.v.Color™ capability, Deep Color (HDMI v1.3 option), 1080/24p input capable, PhotoTV HD
The XBR5 series of rear-projection HDTVs is designed to deliver premium Full HD 1080p image quality, advanced features and sophisticated styling. The KDS-Z70XBR5 measures in at 39% slimmer depth compared to the current 70" model and incorporates all of Sony's latest technologies (including HDMI v1.3 features such as x.v.Color and Deep Color). Additional features like Motionflow™ 120Hz enable smoother motion when viewing movies or fast-action sports. BRAVIA Engine PRO with Digital Reality Creation upconverts all interlaced and progressive video signals including HD signals directly to 1080p for amazing detail and sharpness. Along with Sony's famous picture quality and advanced settings for personal optimization of the picture, the XBR5 is Sony's slimmest rear projection HDTV.
Motionflow 120Hz Technology
Taking motion performance to the next level requires innovation and expertise. Enter Sony's Motionflow™ High Frame Rate technology. Motionflow™ detects the incoming video signal and applies the appropriate processing for optimum motion reproduction. Taking full advantage of film sourced 24fps encoded content available on DVD and Blu-ray Disc, Motionflow™ eliminates the need for 3:2 pulldown and delivers smooth, judder free video, faithfully preserving the integrity of the original film. When 60fps content is detected, Motionflow™ doubles the amount of frames and uses real-time calculation to create a new level of natural motion reproduction. You'll experience movies and sports with a greater sense of realism than ever before.
24p True Cinema
Movies are filmed at 24 frames per second (fps) and many prime time TV programs are video taped at 24p. Sony's BDP-S1 Blu-ray® player wisely takes advantage of this by including 24p output capability on selected BRAVIA models. The benefit? You can watch movies in natural, cinematic motion, the way they are seen at the cinema. Every single frame of the movie can now be seen without using additional video processing to convert film-based images to video reproduction. Additionally, 24p True Cinema can be used along with Motionflow 120Hz technology for outstanding fluid motion beyond what you would typically see at the cinema. Once you experience 24p video it will be hard to view video without it.
BRAVIA Engine™ PRO featuring DRC-MFv2.5
BRAVIA Engine™ PRO builds upon the BRAVIA Engine system's outstanding video processing functions making it Sony's most advanced video processing system. It is the culmination of our legendary picture quality expertise, featuring the latest generation of proprietary video processing technology: Digital Reality Creation - Multi Function (DRC-MFv2.5). This technology creates a high-density video signal that traditional interpolation video processing cannot achieve. This latest generation of DRC-MF features increased processing power and provides a sharp, crystal clear image with both 480i and 480p standard definition and all high definition sources (except 1080p). It also features "1080p Direct Creation" which minimizes loss in interlace-to-progressive (IP) conversion by performing Digital Reality Creation and IP Creation algorithms simultaneously.
x.v.Color™ technology
BRAVIA HDTV's performancehave now advanced to the point that the color range can bedefined by limitations in the original video source, rather than the TV. Thanks to the adoption of a newly approved international color standard called xvYCC, the color space has been greatly expanded. 1.8 times as many natural colors as existing HDTV signals will now be faithfully reproduced. x.v.Color™ is the name Sony has chosen to promote video products that include xvYCC capability. Select Sony Handycam® camcorders are x.v.Color™ enabled products. Sony BRAVIA LCD HDTVs take you beyond HD. (Found on select Sony® BRAVIA televisions.)
Live Color Creation technology
Many colors in the real world such as deep reds, greens and clear blues cannot be expressed with conventional display technologies. Working in combination with the special WCG-CCFL backlight in LCD HDTVs or the optical engine in our MDPJ HDTVs, Live Color Creation technology achieves wide color reproduction using advanced chroma signal processing algorithms. The primary benefits are clear blues, natural greens and an overall vibrant color for all scenes.
DMex - Ready (Digital Media Expander)
Sony's Digital Media Expander (DMeX) capable televisions offer a digital connection path for the addition of the optional modules like the new BRAVIA Internet Video Link (sold separately). With innovative DMeX expansion capabilities featuring the Emmy® award winning XMB user interface, select 2007 models are not merely TVs, but powerful entertainment platforms that not only meet your needs today, but expand easily to meet tomorrow's needs as well.
Xross Media Bar® (XMB™)
When was the last time you saw an on-screen display that was fast, fun and easy to use? Sony's Emmy® award-winning1 Xross Media Bar (pronounced Cross) provides a logical and fast way to access set up menus, user controls, and more. The on-screen display comes to life by pushing the XMB menu button ("HOME") on the remote. Navigation through the menus is smooth and fast via the cross control on the remote and the elegant on-screen graphics. It's fast, easy and enjoyable to use. Plus you never have to take your eyes off of the TV screen to use it!
BRAVIA® Theatre Sync™-2
BRAVIA Theatre Sync technology will be included on select BRAVIA Theatre home A/V systems and components. It is essentially based on the industry standard HDMI-CEC function but is created to go beyond basic digital audio and video transmission to include control. This useful one-touch function reduces the hassle and time consuming job of powering up, routing signals, etc. down to one button and all connected by one HDMI™ cable.8
S-Force® Front Surround
Built around a sophisticated set of Sony algorithms, the S-Force Front Surround enhancement function generates realistic surround sound from the two speakers in the TV. Unlike some other "virtual surround" technologies, S-Force Front Surround sound does not need to be bounced off of side walls or other surfaces to hear three-dimensional sound. No matter what the size or shape of the room it's possible to hear sounds from behind you.
Voice Zoom-2
gives the viewer the freedom to control the volume of commentators. It extracts the "center" sound, which generally consists of the human voice, even from a 2-channel source. For example, if you are watching a sports game, you can turn the voice of the commentator down, making you feel like you are actually at the game. You can also choose to turn up the voice level to easily hear play-by-play announcing. Conventional methods of voice level control simply emphasize certain frequencies to make voices more audible. Voice Zoom analyzes the direction in which sound moves and extracts the "center" components where the human voice is positioned.
Sound Booster-2
Overall sound quality is audibly altered as it passes through the speaker grille causing a blurring of sound quality. Sony has found a unique way of clarifying the sound quality using a special digital signal processing circuit that results in a recovery of original sound quality. Sound booster includes three selectable modes.
Advanced Contrast Enhancer (ACE)
Sony's Advanced Contrast Enhancer (ACE) builds on our excellent On-Screen contrast ratio performance. A very high Dynamic Contrast Ratio2 is achieved by using real-time image processing to adjust the contrast along with optimizing backlight levels. But rather than focus on the "numbers", Sony focuses on actual picture performance avoiding exaggerated blacks where detail can be lost. ACE translates to blacker blacks in darker scenes, as well as better shadow detail in other scenes for a difference that you can see.
