Responsibilities:

- Development of Java SE/J2EE applications
- Design, develop and integrate with 3rd party applications
-Interact with team members, clients and 3rd party vendors to ensure a seamless professional user experience
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies
- Troubleshoot and debug the platform to solve production issues and maintenance requirements
- Development of automated tests and quality metrics
- Create automated monitoring tools, alerts, identify and address performance and generate maintenance reports
- Develop architecture design, specifications and documentation
- Develop proof of concepts
- Participate in Code Reviews, but also perform Code Reviews with Junior staff
- Innovate in the field of online video distribution by taking a proactive role in leading the development of proprietary Quixel Up technology (upload & encode technology) the core business value driver
- Managing changes in new Java releases


Required Skills:

•      Minimum 2 years with hands on experience on Java2SE
•      Applets development experience
•      Swing/AWT framework, Multi-threaded environment
•      Java 7 APIs
•      Understanding of web basic concepts (e.g. HTTP, DNS, SMTP, W3C etc)
•      Understanding of Web Service technologies
•      Strong interest in clean design and architecture of large-scale software systems
•      Knowledge of common and emergent software design patterns
•      Structured, organized with an attitude to deliver quality results on time
•      Knowledge of Server-side technologies in Java/J2EE and related technologies: JMS/RMI/WS/JSP
•      Knowledge of Database - preferably MySQL Server and related ORM technologies
•      Knowledge and ability to work with legacy code
•      Excellent written and spoken communication skills
•      Ability to perform under pressure, multi-task and prioritize responsibilities
•      Ability to present information, recommendations in a precise concise manner


Considered a Plus:

•      Knowledge about handling media metadata, Java Media API and low level byte manipulation.
•      Preferably experience with binary HTTP data transfer, encapsulated with various but not limited HTTP libraries.
•      Audio/Video Transconding experience, Servlets, H264 encoding and FFMpeg library.
•      Experience working in an Agile Project Management environment
•      Experience with Git or Svn
•      Experience with JIRA or other Project Management Software
